James Castagne-Hay of Form 5 has been selected to represent Trinidad & Tobago in triathlon at the upcoming Commonwealth Youth Games in Tobago in August.
James won the Above Average Super-Sprint Triathlon in Tobago in March which was a qualifier for the Games. In second place was another Fatima student, Liam D’Abadie.
In April, James went on to finish 2nd overall in the National Aquathlon and was 1st in 16-19 males. This race forms part of the selection process for the CARIFTA Triathlon, Aquathlon & Mixed Relay Championships in the Bahamas in August.
On Sunday 7th May, James competed in a World Triathlon Development Cup Race in Barbados. James finished the Sprint distance race in 4th position overall in the males and 3rd in the 16-19 males.
James’ next major race is the Rainbow Cup National Triathlon in Tobago in June - another qualifier for CARIFTA. This will be followed by the Secondary Schools Triathlon which is the 3rd and final race of the 2022-2023 Schools Multi-sport Series. He is looking forward to competing with his fellow Fatima athletes to close out the series and bring home first place for Fatima College.
Strive on James! Strive on!
